Description IPv6 Buddy
"Only when the last IPv4 address is assigned will you realize that..."
(Beginning of an old network proverb)
The countdown for the remaining free IPv4 addresses has been looking very grim for a long time. The IANA networks were already exhausted in February 2011. Good thing the work on IPv6 began back in 1995 ;)
With ~340 sextillion possible addresses, IPv6 offers enough possibilities to provide even our coffee machines and electric toothbrushes with IP addresses. But until then, the network administrators of the world have to switch everything over first... That will be fun!
To make this change a bit easier, there's now the portable IPv6 Buddy. This keyboard extension can be easily connected via USB and is equipped with letters and numbers suitable for IPv6, similar to the numeric keypad.
A-F, the letters for hex, 0-9, of course, dots and colons, as well as slash, tab, enter, and backspace will be a true relief for tired admin fingers and make the IPv6 Buddy, next to coffee, the best friend for the real computer heroes of our time.
